About the position

Manages and leads the human resources management function of Pathologist Lancet Kenya and its subsidiaries in Uganda, Tanzania & Rwanda to ensure the provision of human resources and talent management strategy, systems and solutions that meet the needs of the organization and support the achievement of organizational strategic objectives.


Recruitment and Retention

  • Develop talent acquisition strategy and oversee the implementation of sound recruitment policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely recruitment practices
  • Ensure vacancies are filled with the best qualified candidates in terms of job requirements and in compliance with company policy.
  • Champion the onboarding process, ensuring the process is up to date and of high quality, providing clarity and connection for all employees and their role in relation to the overall vision

Training and Development

  • Oversees the development and implementation of training & development strategies
  • Oversees the management of organisational development processes to ensure the proper application of job evaluation standards, fairness and equity in the grading and valuing of work
  • Ensure the most cost-effective utilisation of available resources and achievement of training and development objectives in line with the needs of the organisation.

Employer – Employee Relation Management

  • Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues
  • Plan, monitor, and appraise HR activities by scheduling management conferences with employees, hearing and resolving employee grievances.
  • Training managers to coach and discipline employees, and counselling employees and supervisors

Company Culture

  • Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently
  • Develop and deploy proper performance management culture solutions that support the monitoring and measuring of organisational strategic performance
  • Cultivating an inclusive, positive, and productive workplace environment
  • Oversees the implementation of an employment equity strategy that promotes the transformation of the organisation

Manage Employee Benefits

  • Maintain and enhance employee benefits programs, including health insurance, and other personnel packages
  • Oversees the provision of effective payroll, benefit, and general HR administration services in line with the needs of the organisation.
  • Ensure and promote equity in remuneration and benefits across the organisation
  • Conduct employees benefits benchmarking activities

Create Safe work environment

  • Oversees provision of occupational health and safety service in compliance with relevant organisational & legislative requirements.

Disciplinary Matters

  • Handles termination of employees in accordance with company policy and law
  • provide advice and support to line managers during the investigation phase and in institution of formal disciplinary proceedings.


  • Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently
  • Retains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system and keeping past and current records.
  • Oversees and leads the application of labour relations processes and procedures, including leadership in the negotiating team, to ensure the proper application of labour legislation and the achievement of stable and harmonious workplace relationships.
  • Stays abreast of best practice in the HR field and ensures implementation of new approaches in line with specific business needs.
  • Develops an HR strategy and plan aligned with business needs and ensuring the most effective utilisation of resources.
  • Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently
  • Develops and oversees the management of the HR budget to ensure the most effective utilisation of financial resources and maintenance of costs within budgets.
  • Manages the implementation of various HR projects (e.g., HRIS and performance management) to ensure proper implementation of project methodology and operational delivery in terms of time, cost and quality.
  • Prepares monthly and annual reports on activities, projects, outputs, and trends to ensure accurate and reliable management information that facilitates executive decision making.
  • Mentors and manages HR managers to ensure they have the skills required by the organisation and can achieve their performance objectives.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management.
  • Higher National Diploma in Human Resource or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
  • Should be a member of Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
  • Good knowledge of Labor Legislation & Employment Laws, HR Regulatory framework, policies and procedures.
