Professional Experience
Dr Rabia Mukadam(PhD)is a Molecular Scientist currently working as a Consultant for the Molecular Department of Pathologists Lancet Kenya, Nairobi. She completed her undergraduate degrees at the University of Cape Town in Medical Biochemistry, and her postgraduate degree as a Gates Malaria Partnership Doctoral Student at the University of Liverpool, School of Tropical Medicine where she received a PhD in Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology.
She has spent most of her career in research working with research bodies such as Malawi - Liverpool Wellcome Trust, Malaria Project - NIH, Walter Reed and College of Medicine (Malawi).
Currently overseeing the Molecular department at PLK, She was in-charge of setting up making sure the molecular department was up to standard to test for SARS-CoV-2 during the Covid pandemic. She has spearheaded the setting up of KRAS, EGFR, BRAF and other ongonetic testing at the Lancet’s main reference laboratory in Nairobi and was behind the setting up of HPV testing for primary cervical cancer screening on COBAS 4800 in 2016, being one of the first laboratories worldwide to introduce the test for primary cervical screening on self-collected samples.
